To cut a long story short - this quilt was my entry at The Festival of Quilts at the NEC in the summer. It was in the pictorial section and it received 'Highly Commended' from the judges. It was very exciting as this quilt was a long time in my head rather than in reality! But I got there in the end.
The title of this piece is "The last rays of glorious sunlight before the rest that night time brings". A long title, but it seemed appropriate. The inspiration for this came from many walks in a cherry orchard in Le Marche, in Italy. And in late afternoon, it glistens!
What is also exciting is that once again I am enjoying a short break in Le Marche. Although it is late autumn, the colours are amazing and I find myself getting the sketch book and paints out and the ideas are beginning to flow.....I don't know what it is about this place but I seem to loosen up, worry less and then my head starts to buzz with all the possibilities.....hopefully, I will have some sketchbook photos to add shortly! In the meantime, here are one or two details from the piece above.
